we had us a potluck

It's Vegan MoFo, bitches!

We had a small potluck last night, all Mexican-themed and whatnot. As such I made Dulce Sin Leche cupcakes, Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles, and Chorizo Sausages. All went over swimmingly! I already knew the baked goods were outstanding, but it was my first time making the seitan-based chorizo. It was a bit spicy on its own, but mixed in with the beans that the Mister made, they were just right. I have three of them left, so I might mix them with some potato later and make little tacos.

As for the cupcakes, I got a little mixed up and put waaaay too much of the brown rice caramel glaze into the cupcakes, so some of them got a bit of a molten sinkhole of caramel in the middle, but that was still pretty delicious. The cookies were perfect, as always, as I have become convinced that those cookies are impossible to screw up.

Something that was pretty awesome? Even though it wasn’t a specifically-vegan potluck, most of the people brought vegan stuff or at least separated the non-vegan stuff so I could eat most of it. It’s pretty sweet when people you don’t even know [they were the Mister’s friends/coworkers] are accommodating of you.

That’d great, I love it when non-vegans are considerate about making sure everyone can eat the food. I’m also loving reading about peoples themed potlucks!
